About Home Inspections…
How long does a home inspection take?
The time it will take to thoroughly inspect a home depends on many factors. The age of the home, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, if it has a full basement or a crawlspace, the total square footage, and many other variables.
Additional services requested will also have a significant impact on the time required. For example, scanning the home with our thermal imaging system is an invaluable way to most accurately determine its condition, but does add a substantial amount of time to the inspection.
About Radon Testing…
How long does it take to perorm a radon test?
It depends on the method used…that’s the short answer. Generally speaking, it only takes 20 minutes or so to set up the test, then the equipment must be left in place, and undisturbed, for 48 hrs. at a minimum. Your home inspector will then return to the home after the 48 hr. (or longer) test period, retrieve the equipment, process it, send it to the lab (for some test types), and furnish you with the results within a few days. With another type of test, the home inspector, who is federally certified to perform the test and interpret the results, can provide you with the report on the same day on which the test period concludes.
How can I be sure the test results are accurate?
There are many different methods which can be used to test for radon. Sky Seals uses two different methods, and regularly performs both types of tests (at no additional expense to you) at the same time in a home. Then we compare the results. In this way, we ensure that both methods are accurate, as if one result varies much from the other, we investigate why.
